September 1937 edition in paperback, published by Tauchnitz, Leipzig. Bright, well bound text. Inscription and numerals on the front endpaper, French school library stamp on the title page, inventory details and a ticket holder on the back cover. The covers have a cloth Dewey code on the spine, some scuff marks and faint water stain on the top edge of the front cover.  Nevertheless, this quite rare early paperback still presents quite well. Well used and fingered text with eight impressive black and white illustrations, lengthy but neat inscription on the front endpaper (Christmas 1914) and one loose illustration. The pictorial covers are heavily worn on edges. No more than a good reader's copy of quite a rare book.

Circa 1919 reprint in hardback in memory of the nine scouts who won the VC in the Great War, published by S W Partridge & Co, London. Bright, well bound text with no inscription but water stains on the opening pages. The covers are vrey worn with closed slits at the head and foot of the spine. dramatic cover picture of scouts in action . A classic piece of scuoting memorabilia.

The pictorial covers are worn and the back cover is very blotchy but the front cover illustration of two scouts still presents well. a classic piece of early scouting memorabilia.
